This page contains the formal University of Wisconsin policy outlining the purpose and scope of the Employee Assistance Program as originated by Academic Affairs, Employee Assistance Office and authorized by then interim chancellor David Ward. Policy

It is the policy of the University of Wisconsin–Madison to provide employee assistance services to faculty, staff, and the immediate family or significant others, to address personal and work-related issues.       

Guidelines

The Employee Assistance Office assists those who work for the University, their immediate family members or significant others, to access the services that match their needs.

In supporting the Employee Assistance Office, the UW–Madison acknowledges that:

  • those who wish to consult with Employee Assistance Office staff may do so on work time.
  • contact with the Employee Assistance Office is always voluntary.
  • no record of services provided by the Employee Assistance Office is entered in an individual’s personnel file.

Confidentiality

Contact with the staff of the Employee Assistance Office is confidential within limits as governed by Federal and State regulations. This information is reviewed with service recipients at the time of their initial appointment.
