Staff Biographies

Stephen R. Pearson, M.A., LPC, Director

Stephen Pearson

Steve came to the UW–Madison to direct the Employee Assistance Office in July, 1990. Before entering the employee assistance field in 1980, he worked in/managed outpatient mental health and substance abuse clinics. He holds a Masters degree in Religion and Psychological Studies from the University of Chicago and completed the Two Year Post-Graduate Training Program in Family Therapy from the Family Institute of Chicago. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor here in the State of Wisconsin.

Kathleen A. Holt, CICSW, Senior Consultant

Kathleen Holt

Kathleen joined the Employee Assistance Office as a consultant in October, 1990. She earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from UW–Madison, and post-graduate training from the Family Institute of Northwestern University. Kathleen has brought with her a diverse background in workplace and family systems, substance abuse, personal counseling and dispute resolution.

While providing service at the UW, her professional development has included a Certificate in Organizational Development from The National Training Laboratory (NTL) with an emphasis on Appreciative Inquiry. Additionally, she has had extensive training in dispute resolution from CDR Associates of Boulder Colorado and has received a Certificate from the Emotional Intelligence and Diversity Institute.

Kathleen’s focus continues to be in helping people communicate effectively and understand themselves, their families and their colleagues. She has been actively involved in developing and facilitating campus and department initiatives to create inclusive/safe work environments.

Christine R. Willard-Waldo, Office Manager

Christine Willard-Waldo

Christine joined the Employee Assistance Staff in January 2000. She oversees our marketing and website material, as well as our lending library for videos and books. Her previous experience has been in administration (with the L&S Dean’s Office, Student Academic Affairs) and in an academic setting (with Political Science and African Languages and Literature).
